Art and the Animal

My painting Going up, looking down has been juried into the 64th Annual Exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists. The exhibition will be held at The Sioux City Public Museum, Iowa from September 1st through November 30th, 2024. 

We spotted this polar bear as a yellow dot moving slowly on the opposite side of the fjord. It settled on a cliff to digest a big meal, maybe a whale or seal carcass. I made some pencil sketches and took some photos from the boat and then took out the oils and brushes back in the studio.
